My Brain is A Soup
the other day, I talked with my friend and at the end of the conversation they said, “my brain is a soup”. my eyes went big instantly and smile blooming, “oh, my god! same!” I said to them.
it’s a fun expression that capture the essence of a jumbled, chaos, crowded, messy brain. it’s a simple phrase for a complicated situation, and I like it. let’s say, this expression also my way of acknowledging and embracing how unique my brain works. it’s sometimes unpredictable, but it’s okay. probably, I will be freaking out if my brain started working ‘properly’. so, I like it okay this way.
I would not say I am neurodivergent, specifically ADHD, but based on many occasions I encountered, I think I have ticked several characteristic of them. therefore, the phrase “I like it spicy!” in the “my brain is a soup” expression is a homage to the neurodivergent folk. I have seen the term ‘neurospicy’ used to refer to the neurodivergent folk in the online space, hence the added phrase “I like it spicy!” seems fitting.
so, the next time you’re brain feel crowded or just feeling overwhelmed in general, remember that it’s okay to have a “soup brain.” embrace it and don’t be afraid to add a little spice to your life ;)
p.s. — I find this interesting article talking about brain soup, like literal brain soup while searching for the term “soup brain” :D
